WELCOME

Welcome to the Charlestown Nursery School (CNS). We are an innovative early learning center in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. We are a cooperative which not only allows for parent involvement, but where the connection with parents is appreciated as vital to achild’s education. Founded by a group of parents and educators in 2007, we began with an exceptional 3-morning-a-week preschool program for children ages 2.9-5. In September 2008, we expanded our preschool program to two classes and opened a 2-morning-a-week toddler program. Now in our third year, we have toddler and preschool programs that run 2-4 mornings a week and have just begun a thoughtful afternoon program. We also have worked to redefine how a school as a community education center by offering developmental play groups for ages 1-2.9 and community enrichment for children 0-5 including performances, lectures and events.

As we grow, we are always evolving to reflect the needs of the community and the best possible practice. Our work is thoughtfully inspired by strong research with a particular influence from the Reggio-Emilia approach. We are enormously proud of the exceptional quality of our teachers, commitment to the richest instruction, connection to families-and most of all the wonder and innovation displayed by our students. It is an outstanding place to begin school.
